SNOW REMOVAL & ICE CONTROL PROCEDURE
Supervisory person on call will determine the degree of emergency and decide what action to be taken.
NECESSITY FOR OVERTIME will be determined based upon the following:
a) Wind Conditions
b) Duration of Storm
c) Depth of Snow
d) Temperature
e) Time required to finish a particular area or township
f) Storm Starting Time and Day of the Week
g) Status of Night Crew Operations
NORMAL ACCUMULATIONS (zero (0) to three (3) inches)
a) Foremen to be notified early enough to patrol their area prior to 3:00 a.m. to determine exact procedure to follow.
b) Crews to start between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. blading and placing chemicals.
c) Sand and/or salt will be applied as follows:
1. Solid:
Occidental Hwy. – M-52 to Russell Rd.
Tecumseh-Clinton Hwy. – Entirely
Onsted Hwy. – US-223 to US-12
Treat Hwy. – in Urban Area
Maumee St. – in Urban Area
Beecher St. – in Urban Area
Ridge Hwy. – Holloway Rd. to Monroe County
2. All Others:
a) Hills (Do Not Pass Sign to Pass With Care Sign)
b) Curves (Curve Warning Sign to Curve Warning Sign)
c) Paved Intersections (300 ft. each way on all Legs)
d) Railroad Crossings (Advance Warning Sign to Tracks)
e) Bridge Decks
PARENT WARNING!! Please do not let your children or pets go near the snowdrifts on the edge of the road. The trucks sit up very high to the road, with the large plows in front and the snow or ice causing reduced visibility we do not want your child or pet to get hit with the snow coming off the plow, or any thing else.
